pH Matters
Beautiful fountain water isn’t just about keeping it clear. The chemistry of the water matters too.
One of the most important things to monitor is pH, which tells us how acidic or alkaline the fountain water is. When pH becomes too high or too low, it can contribute to mineral scale, staining, surface deterioration, and premature wear on pumps and other fountain components.
High pH and hard water can encourage the white, crusty mineral deposits commonly seen around fountain edges, spillways, and nozzles. Water that is too acidic can be aggressive toward certain stone, concrete, metals, finishes, and other fountain materials.
Regular pH testing gives us another clue about what is happening inside the fountain. Instead of simply cleaning what we can see, we can identify water conditions that may be contributing to recurring problems.
At Pacifica Outdoor Care, we believe fountain maintenance should go beyond making the water look clean. Understanding the water helps us protect the fountain itself and keep it looking its best.
